Uyuni Salt Flat
Combining Salar de Uyuni with the Atacama Desert guarantees an unforgettable journey through two of the Andes’ most iconic landscapes. Crossings can be done in either direction—starting in San Pedro de Atacama or in Uyuni—and you can end your trip in either city, with no need to return to your starting point.
To suit different traveler profiles, Aroeira Travel offers crossings in two durations and two accommodation categories, all operated with the same high standard of care, safety, and personalized guidance.
Crossing Durations
Complete Crossing 4 days / 3 nights
The most comprehensive and comfortable crossing.
Spread over four days, this itinerary means less time in the car during long stretches and more opportunities to explore the Altiplano at a relaxed pace.
In addition to all the essential points of the journey—Laguna Blanca, Laguna Verde, Dalí Desert, Polques Hot Springs, Laguna Colorada, Sol de Mañana Geysers, and a full day at Salar de Uyuni—the Complete version also includes additional stops, such as Valle de las Rocas and high-altitude lagoons home to Andean flamingos.
It’s the ideal choice for those seeking a richer, more balanced experience, with gentle rhythms, more time outdoors, and less accumulated fatigue.
Essential Crossing 3 days / 2 nights
A more direct and compact version of the crossing.
This itinerary condenses the Altiplano’s main landscapes and a full day at Salar de Uyuni, but omits the high-altitude lagoons and other secondary stops included in the Complete version.
Being shorter, it requires longer stretches of driving in a single day, especially toward the end of the trip. Nevertheless, it still covers all the must-see landscapes: Laguna Blanca, Laguna Verde, Dalí Desert, Polques, Laguna Colorada, and the salt flats with its most iconic spots.
Perfect for travelers with limited time or connecting a trip between Chile and Bolivia who don’t want to miss the Uyuni Salt Flats.
